Introduction
An owner-managed Preston-based manufacturing business is looking for a Finance Manager to be responsible for all aspects of the Finance Department. The business has been operational for over 75 years and boasts an impressive set up, which receives regular investment in new machinery, with their factory having recently undergone a dramatic overhaul.
They need a self-starter, someone with energy who will be pro-active and contribute in leadership meetings.
Role Duties:
· Manage the finance department day-to-day – including monitoring the integrity of Financial Ledgers, Accounts Receivable & Payable, bank and cash reconciliation, cost and inventory accounting, VAT processing and returns.
· Create, document and track effectiveness of internal control processes and procedures
· Own the month end close process, preparing monthly management accounts and reports for the Board of Directors
· Manage an Accounts Assistant to ensure quality of work and their professional development
· Handle payroll processing and manage external relationships with agencies such as HMRC
· Establish and maintain effective financial reporting systems, ensuring managers have the information available to make informed business decisions.
· Coordinate all insurance and risk management activities
Skills Needed
· Flexible on experience; QBE, AAT Level 4 or qualified (ACCA/CIMA)
· Preferably, you’ll have experience working in an SME manufacturing business, though not essential
· Ambitious, with a desire to progress internally into a broader, more senior role
· Sage 50 Cloud experience, preferred
· An organized, forward thinking mindset with a desire to seek improvements in the department and see them through to competition
· Positive attitude and ad ability to communicate with stakeholder at varying levels in the business
