Role Summary

Trostan Dene are working with the practice head of a newly formed Transition Finance team looking to make it’s first hire in London.

If you are passionate about sustainability and interested in complex financing transactions enabling industries to transition toward net zero, this could be a great opportunity.

The practice advises debt providers, arrangers and sponsors on the origination and structuring of financing at both project and corporate level, as well as corporates requiring specialist finance to deliver their Transition Plans.

Job duties

Transition finance enables companies and infrastructure assets to move toward lower-carbon operations. Unlike green finance, it focuses on transforming existing industries, not just funding renewable technologies.

Example sectors:

  • Industrial decarbonisation (cement, petrochemicals)
  •  Retirement of coal plants
  • Data centres and digital infrastructures
  • Electronification of equipment and processes
  • Climate-resilient infrastructure

Who you’ll advise:

  • Banks and debt funds
  • Sponsors and institutional investors
  • Corporate borrowers (often PE-backed)

The work

Transactions are highly structured, multi-jurisdictional debt financings, often involving:

  • Superior senior/Senior debt
  • Mezzanine debt
  • Subordinated structures
